#WhyIChoseUAB: I wanted a program where I could live in a home in a safe neighborhood within 15 minutes of the hospital that I could afford on one salary. Of the few programs where this is possible, UAB offers the best training, has the best work life balance, and most opportunities to augment learning through moonlighting with the best compensation of any other program.

Favorite rotation and why: TBD
My neighborhood and why I like it: Chapel Hills in Fultondale. Many other anesthesia residents with spouses and kids live there. Short commute, safe and good value for the money for newer-built homes.
Favorite spots for a date night: Bottega, El Barrio
Best things to do with family/kids: McWane Science Center, Birmingham Zoo, Botanical gardens, playgrounds and splash pads
Best park, trail, or golf course/Where I take in the scenic views: Oak Mountain
Why I like Birmingham: Large enough city where you don't have to travel outside city limits for anything you could want to eat/get/do, short commutes
What I wish someone had told me before I moved here: How hilly and beautiful the city and surrounding area are
