The UAB Comprehensive Diabetes Center (UCDC) Communication Team is hiring a dynamic, eager-to-learn communications intern to start August 2024. The paid internship is a great opportunity for a communications, public relations, or marketing student to polish their skills in writing, social media, graphic design, and project management. The student must be available to work for 15-20 hours/week. During training, the intern will be in-person at the Shelby Biomedical Science Research Building (1825 University Blvd. Birmingham, AL 35223), with an option to transition to 25-50% remote work. The communications intern will:
- Craft original articles for the UCDC, anywhere from 250 – 1,000 words
- Assist with social media planning and posting
- Work with communications manager to plan for Diabetes Awareness Month in Nov. 2024
- Support communications manager with event planning and execution
- Occasionally design PowerPoints, swag, and digital signage
