Section 1: Percent UAB Salary Covered by Grants or Contracts
A. 40-59% = 5 points
B. 60-75% = 10 points
C. >75-85% = 15 points
D. >85% = 20 points
E. PI Role will be rewarded with 2 additional points/grant. (PIs on Multi-PI grants, or PPGs are also
eligible.)
Section 2: Peer-Reviewed Publications in a Journal Listed on PubMed
A. 0.5 points = First or Last/Senior Masthead Author
B. 1.0 points = First or Last/Senior Masthead Author, Journal Impact Factor Between 8-15
C. 3.0 points = First or Last/Senior Masthead Author, Journal Impact Factor Greater than 15
D. 0.25 points = Co-Author (Named author on the title page of the publication)
E. 0.5 points = Co-Author, Journal Impact Factor Between 8-15
F. 1.0 points = Co-Author, Journal Impact Factor Greater than 15
The 2013 Impact Factor was downloaded from ISI on 7/2/2014 for all journals with Impact
Factor > 4. You can view all 2013 impact factors on the ISI Website.
Section 3: Research Service-Related Contributions
A. Peer-reviewerfor Grants

Section 4: VA-Related Contributions
A. DOM Faculty with a non-physician appointment at the VA are eligible for points based on percent effort on VA-funded grants (excluding the VA Career Development Awards). The claimed effort MUST match the % effort listed on the Memorandum of Understanding. The point value is the same as that for UAB salary.
B. Non-physician VA faculty are also eligible to claim primary or co-primary mentorship on VA Career Development Awards or HRSA Geriatric Academic Career Awards (3 points).
C. All VA Career Development Award or HRSA Geriatric Academic Career Award recipients (physician and non-physician) will receive 15 points awarded based on 75% committed effort.
