The abiding passion of our investigators is to explore the realms of basic and clinical science—to tackle the toughest health problems and deliver solutions from bench to bedside and back again.

We are asking questions about everything from whether pig kidneys can alleviate the transplant shortage to how physical activity affects the aging process, and we are excited about the discoveries that will be made here at UAB.

Our overall NIH portfolio has grown approximately 35% since 2011, with over $79.5 million in funding. The Department ranks #17 in the nation, and we aim to continue that trend over the next five years.
