Erin Snyder, MD, will serve as the first Physician Director for Ambulatory Care in the Department of Medicine. In this new role, Snyder will work with Vice Chair for Clinical Programs, Elizabeth Turnipseed, MD, and stakeholders across the enterprise to improve access to care for our patients, to enhance use of our ambulatory clinics, and to increase ambulatory practice revenue relative to costs.
Snyder is Associate Professor of Medicine in the Division of General Internal Medicine and Assistant Program Director for the Tinsley Harrison Internal Medicine Residency Program. She also serves as Medical Director for the Internal Medicine IV Clinic.
Over the past 15 years, Snyder has built a remarkable outpatient General Internal Medicine pratice at UAB, successfully leading her patients and team through transitions in electronic medical records, a new clinic space, and even ICD-10 and new outpatient billing rules. This institutional experience, combined with her leadership in the Women's Health and Primary Care tracks in our residency program, uniquely qualify her for this role.
Notably Snyder was recognized as her division's Unsung Hero last year, and she has earned numerous other accolades for her exemplary patient care and education, including the 2020 Brewer-Heslin Aware, the 2019 Robert Kreisburg Award, and two Heudebert Awards for faculty contributions to the residency program. Her work to improve ambulatory education, in both graduate and undergraduate medical educadtion focuses on novel curricular approaches, improving the continuity clinic experience for residents and their patients, and improving women's health education.
Snyder earned her M.D. from the UAB Heersink School of Medicine in 2003, and she completed her residency training here in 2006. She joined our faculty as an Assistant Professor in 2006 and became Associate Professor in 2014.
