The team provided attendees with educational material, testing resources, and preventive information. In addition, the Camellia Cohort, led by co-investigators and Associate Professors in the UAB Division of Infectious Diseases Lynn Matthews, M.D., and Latesha Elopre, M.D., distributed kits filled with sexual health essentials. The team concluded the day commemorating Southern HIV/AIDS Awareness Day by dispelling common myths associated with the virus. Great work, everyone!

Saag, Danila Secure Grant to Study Bone Fracture Prevention

Clinical Immunology & Rheumatology Professors Drs. Ken Saag and Maria Danila secured a grant from Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute to investigate the effectiveness of post-fracture bone care. Experts aim to prevent subsequent fractures among patients with osteoporosis.

Stripling, Waugaman Named DOM Wellness Council Co-Chairs

Josh Stripling, M.D., (Assistant Professor, ID) and Kaitlyn Waugaman, MPH, (Program Manager II, Preventive Medicine) were selected as the inaugural co-chairs of the DOM Wellness Council. They will work to address high priority areas and improve the work environment in the department.
