COERE TeamLast week, the Center for Outcomes and Effectiveness Research and Education hosted its 2024 Methods Symposium, "Scientific Methods to Support Implementation Science" at the Edge of Chaos in the UAB Lister Hill Center. The symposium featured four dynamic presenters from UAB and across the country. Participants were invited to partake in discussions surrounding common challenges in implementation science, novel methods and ways to leverage social networks.

The 2024 Methods Symposium was sponsored by UAB COERE, CFAR, CCTS, UAB School of Public Health, Heersink School of Medicine, and Forge AHEAD Center.

Dionne Named Co-Director of Leadership Operations Center

Jodie Dionne, M.D., MSPH, (Associate Professor, ID) was named co-director for the Leadership Operations Center of the Infectious Diseases Clinical Research Consortium Leadership Group to support the planning and execution of the IDCRC clinical research portfolio.

Kulkarni Elected to ACCP Chair

Tejaswini Kulkarni, M.D., MPH, (Associate Professor, PACCM) was appointed Chair of the Interstitial Lung Disease Section for the American College of Chest Physicians to enhance scientific knowledge and advance clinical practices for health care providers in the areas of interstitial and diffuse lung diseases.

Cimino Appointed Chair of New Department

The UA System Board of Trustees approved the appointment of James Cimino, M.D., (Professor, GIM) as Chair of the Department of Biomedical Informatics and Data Science. The department aims to accelerate biomedical research, improve patient outcomes and shape the future of health care.

Muzny Included in National STD Curriculum Lecture Series

Christina Muzny, M.D., MPH, (Professor, ID) is featured in the National STD Curriculum Lecture Series for her presentation "Vaginitis" which discusses transmission, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of trichomoniasis, bacterial vaginosis and Vulvovaginal Candidiasis.

UAB Residency & Fellowship Graduate Joins HemOnc Faculty

Please join us in welcoming former UAB resident and fellow, Assistant Professor Cameorn Pywell, M.D., to the Division of Hematology & Oncology. His research interests include cancer curability and the effects of race and location on advance directive completion and clinical trial participation.
