These brief, high quality videos are designed to enhance clinician-educator skills in five important areas: Setting Expectations, Giving Feedback, Teaching Procedures, Improving the Learning Climate, and Enhancing Evaluations. The series not only fulfills an ACGME requirement, but also helps faculty and learners be successful in the medical training environment. Kudos to our talented MedEd team for developing this free and accessible resource for all medical educators.

Ashita Tolwani, MD (Professor, Nephrology) has received the prestigious Robert G. Narins Award from the American Society of Nephrology. One of four-lifetime achievement awards presented each year, the Narins Award honors individuals who have made meritorious contributions in nephrology education and teaching.
The Mike & Gillian Goodrich Foundation has provided the O’Neal Comprehensive Cancer Center’s Office of Community Outreach and Engagement a grant to fund prevention and awareness activities that will address the disparate impact of cancer and the COVID-19 pandemic on Alabama’s most rural communities.
Ammar Almehmi, MD (Professor, Nephrology) has been elected as Councilor for the American Society for Diagnostic and Interventional Nephrology (ASDIN) for a three year term. He will also Chair the ASDIN Education committee and will be a member of the ASDIN Trainee committee. Kudos, Dr. Almehmi!
As DOM has implemented a "gradual, phased approach" to returning to work on campus, we have reviewed and approved 124 individual investigator plans to date for reentry to research. This encompasses 619 employees who are now working in labs with enhanced protocols for safety. Keep up the great work, everyone!
Former DOM Division Directors Stuart Frank, MD (Endocrinology, Diabetes & Metabolism) and Mel Wilcox, MD (Gastroenterology & Hepatology) have been appointed Professor Emeritus in their respective divisions by the UA Board of Trustees in recognition of their distinguished careers at UAB. The most common source cited for causing burnout among physicians has been the electronic health record (EHR). We have a great opportunity to suggest changes that can improve our EHR at UAB.
