POCUS TRACKRob Smola, M.D., director, and Andy Marshall, M.D., associate director, will lead the new Point-of-Care Ultrasound track for the Tinsley Harrison Internal Medicine Residency Program. In addition to the longitudinal POCUS curriculum for all residents, the POCUS track offers upper-level residents more advanced didactics, additional hands-on experience and personalized learning to enhance their clinical and diagnostic skills in areas like cardiology, pulmonary, abdominal, musculoskeletal ultrasound, and much more. The program supports each participant's individual career goals through customized learning opportunities and mentorship.

Elk Aims to Address Racism in Palliative Care Training Project

Through a new NIA RO1 grant, Ronit Elk, M.D., (Professor, GGPC) will partner with colleagues to develop a training program to empower clinicians to improve end-of-life care among African Americans in the South and North U.S.

Chen Aims to Identify Missed and Delayed VTE Diagnoses

Jin Chen, Ph.D., (Associate Professor, Nephrology) has received an AHRQ R01 grant aiming to identify delayed and missed venous thromboembolism diagnoses in primary and urgent care settings. He will MPI the project with colleagues at Harvard and across UAB.
