Last week, the Department of Medicine launched its 2025 Leadership DOM cohort. Dr. Julie McDonald of McDonald Graham, LLC, and Stacy Buford, MSA, DOM Director of Strategic Operations, welcomed the 60-member group to Faculty Office Tower where they discussed key leadership concepts like cultivating self-awareness and receiving feedback. The cohort will meet monthly through December to further develop their strategic leadership skills.

Shahid Compares AI to Physician Performance on CVD Exams
Medical student Abdulla Shahid, BS, published research comparing the examination scores of large language models (LLMs) and physicians on cardiology certification exams. The study found LLMs performed similarly to physicians in some areas and outperformed them in others, highlighting the need to incorporate critical thinking scenarios in these exams.
UAB Will Conduct Campus-Wide Engagement Survey
UAB will conduct an anonymous, campus-wide faculty and staff engagement survey for Workgroups A and E. The survey will be distributed on Monday, Feb. 3, and close Monday Feb. 17. Results will be presented in the spring.
