Featured Discovery celebrates the impressive science findings and innovations taking place in the School of Medicine. This initiative is a way to highlight unique discoveries by our faculty and research staff, while demonstrating UAB’s national leadership in research.

The Heersink School of Medicine research steering committee selects Featured Discovery winners based on the following criteria:

• Nominee must be a current faculty member at the School of Medicine
• Discovery must be considered a high-impact
• Research scope and goals must be aligned with our missions
• Project must demonstrate collaboration and team science
• Research must be published in a prominent scientific journal
