A group of multidisciplinary faculty from the School of Medicine have contributed to the development of the Creating Effective Resident Teacher's (CERT) Program, designed to help prepare resident physicians learn to better teach. CERT teaches residents instructional strategies that will help them better integrate their teaching responsibilities into patient care activities, thus enhancing the educational experience of both residents and medical students.
The CERT Program is a collection of both UAB developed material and material that has been developed at other institutions. See and download the module materials in Box.
The modules contain "Quick References" to assist the residents with their teaching activities. This is a brief, bulleted list of information designed to help residents target select instructional areas.
For more extended learning and for teaching purposes, modules also contain some or all of the following material: slideshows, handouts, and online resources, including related websites and articles. The slideshows provide basic information and a framework for instructional sessions. However, it is suggested that the slides be modified for each department's specific needs.
