- 2. I am not currently enrolled in a program leading to a Master’s or PhD degree in biomedical research.
- 3. Unless otherwise noted, I understand that my MSSRP project must be at least 56 sequential days (8 weeks) long except if I am participating as an HSOM Orientation Leader (7 weeks). Any exceptions must have prior written approval from the Assistant Dean of Physician Scientist Development and the appropriate MSSRP Director of the program to which I have committed for the summer.
-
- -- If selected as an Orientation Leader, I understand that I need to seek prior approval from my summer research mentor and that my stipend will be reduced to accommodate the dedicated time for this endeavor.

- 4. I understand that if I receive MSSRP funding, I may not accept any other summer funding from the University of Alabama at Birmingham or other sources during the time of my MSSRP experience without prior approval, in writing, from the Assistant Dean of Physician Scientist Development. - 5. HSOM MSSRP is a full-time commitment, during which I may not accept any type of employment, significant additional volunteer commitments (e.g., SHPEP mentor), or enroll in any classes/coursework not approved by the Assistant Dean of Physician Scientist Development (i.e, Summer HSOM Special Topics outside of the approval EAB Summer Special Topics course).

- 7. I will attend/complete all summer seminars/training designated by my program and any additional summer activities pertaining to my research suggested by my mentor.
- 8. If I am selected to receive funding from one of the HSOM MSSRPs, I agree to present my findings (negative or positive) at the UAB Heersink SOM Medical Student Research Day (MSRD) (Fall 2024). My mentor and I also understand that one of our goals is to have the results of my summer research included in a subsequent publication from my mentor’s lab with the acknowledgment of the student contribution as co-author.
- 9. If I am selected to participate in one of the MSSRPs, I agree to return questionnaires concerning the progress of my career that will be sent to me over the next few years, and I agree to provide a change of address notification to the MSSRP as necessary.
