Assistant Professor
Areas of Interest
cellular and molecular biology, brain tumors
Dr. Satoru Osuka is an assistant professor in the UAB Department of Neurosurgery. His research seeks to understand the cellular and molecular biology of therapeutic resistance in brain tumors, including how glioblastoma that recur after treatment change at the molecular level, making them resistant to further chemo- and radio-therapies. The purpose of his research is to identify the mechanisms that drive resistance and learning how to target them. Dr. Osuka joins the department from Emory University, where he was a postdoctoral fellow. Dr. Osuka has extensive experience in neuro-oncology, neurosurgery and bioinformatics analysis, and he has made many original contributions with his colleagues in this area.
