Dr. Patrick R. Pritchard earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Georgetown University, Washington, D.C., and he is an Alpha Omega Alpha graduate of the Georgetown University School of Medicine. Dr. Pritchard completed a general surgery internship at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland after which he served a tour in the United States Navy as a general medical officer with the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit in Okinawa, Japan and with the United States Marine Corp Base, in Quantico, Virginia.

Dr. Pritchard completed his neurosurgical residency in 2001 at the Albany Medical College under the mentorship of A. John Popp, M.D.

Dr. Pritchard returned to active duty as a staff neurosurgeon at the Naval Medical Center in San Diego and completed his military service in 2003. From 2003 to 2004 Dr. Pritchard was a fellow/instructor in Complex Neurosurgical Spine Surgery at the University of Alabama Hospitals under the mentorship of Mark N. Hadley M.D. In August 2004 joined the faculty at UAB School of Medicine in the Division of Neurological Surgery with practice concentration in treatment of complex spinal disorders. Dr. Pritchard maintains an active appointment as Associate Professor of Surgery at UAB and at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences. Dr. Pritchard is board certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgery. Dr. Pritchard has special interest in minimally invasive spinal techniques, spinal trauma and traumatic brain injury.
