Bentley Headshot 550x413 Nov2023University of Alabama at Birmingham Department of Neurosurgery Associate Professor Nicole Bentley, M.D., was invited to participate as a presenter and moderator at the 2024 American Society for Stereotactic and Functional Neurosurgery (ASSFN) Biennial Meeting.

Bentley, who is on the ASSFN Scientific Program Committee, also served as a director for the meeting, which was held in Nashville, TN, from Saturday, June 1, 2024, to Tuesday, June 4, 2024.

During the “Mentorship for Medical Students” course, Bentley presented, “Choosing the Ideal Sub-Internships.”

This ASSFN course, tailored for medical students, was held to provide students with insights and guidance on neurosurgical training pathways, including sub-internships and the National Resident Matching Program.

On the second day of the meeting, Bentley acted as a moderator for the “The Evolution of Movement Disorder Surgery” session, with Michael Okun, M.D., a neurologist at the University of Florida.

Bentley, along with Assistant Professor Marshall Holland, M.D., M.S., and Department of Neurosurgery Residents Somnath Das, M.D., and Georges Bouobda Tsema, M.D., had a featured research poster, titled, “Assessing the Role of Pneumocephalus in Deep Brain Stimulator Electrode Targeting Accuracy,” at the meeting.
