The department is delighted to welcome new personnel generalist, Cassandra DeGraffenried, effective Dec. 6.

DeGraffenried brings nearly 20 years of diverse human resources experience. Prior to UAB, she managed the HR functions for a small healthcare company where she was involved in guiding the startup and management of a full spectrum of operations, systems, and programs.

Her areas of expertise include staffing, recruitment, employee relations, performance management, policy/handbook development, job description development, benefits, and leave administration. DeGraffenried holds a B.S. in management from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and an M.S. in HRM from Strayer University. 

DeGraffenried is married to her husband, Eric, and has two daughters: Rayven (senior at the University of West Alabama) and Reah (junior at JCBI, Irondale Campus). In her spare time, she enjoys working out and spending time with her family.
