The University of Alabama at Birmingham Department of Neurosurgery welcomes Cassandra “Cassie” Shoemaker as an administrative office specialist IV. Shoemaker joins the department with more than 17 years of clerical experience in various settings within the medical field.
Shoemaker began her career working in skilled nursing before transitioning to work in orthopedic pre-admission testing, outpatient cardiovascular clinic, pain management, inpatient cardiac ICU and outpatient surgery, where she has spent the last three years.
In her free time, Shoemaker enjoys T-shirt design, wreath making and anything craft related. “My husband says my favorite hobby is buying craft supplies! He may not be wrong,” said Shoemaker. She also likes reading, baking, going to concerts, taking her Jeep exploring and riding her Harley-Davidson motorcycle with her husband.
Shoemaker says she is looking forward to her next chapter at UAB and is excited to get to know everyone in the Department of Neurosurgery.
In her new role, Shoemaker will support Marshall Holland, M.D., M.S., Elizabeth Liptrap, M.D., Kristen Riley, M.D., and Philip Schmalz, M.D.
