The University of Alabama at Birmingham Department of Neurosurgery PGY6 Resident Nicholas Laskay, M.D., was recently awarded 2023 Scholar Award in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion at the Congress of Neurological Surgeons (CNS) Annual Meeting in Washington D.C. on Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2023.
 
The DEI Scholar Project, an initiative supported by the CNS Foundation through a generous grant by Medtronic, is awarded in the amount of $12,000 to an individual to investigate and gain insights into the existence or causes contributing to healthcare disparities within neurosurgery.
 
With this award, Laskay will contribute to improved diversity, equity and inclusion through his study.
