Jianmei Leavenworth, M.D., Ph.D., associate professor in the University of Alabama at Birmingham Department of Neurosurgery, recently graduated from the spring 2025 cohort of UAB Medicine’s Leading Advancing Developing (LEAD) program.

The program, presented by the UAB Medicine Leadership Development Office, aims to cultivate leadership capabilities among mid-level faculty, retain key talent and promote long-term faculty success. LEAD is offered in both the fall and spring semesters.

Leavenworth, who also serves as assistant program director at the O’Neal Comprehensive Cancer Center, was one of nine faculty members recognized during a graduation ceremony held March 13.

LEAD is designed specifically for associate professors and other mid-career faculty members within UAB Medicine.
