Anil Mahavadi, M.D., MBA, a neurological surgery resident in the University of Alabama at Birmingham Department of Neurosurgery, and Yifei Sun, a medical student at the Marnix E. Heersink School of Medicine, presented at the Annual Meeting of the AANS/CNS Section on Disorders of the Spine and Peripheral Nerve.
Mahavadi, who is in his fifth year of residency, presented his research, “Impact of Biomechanical Characteristics of Lumbar Disk Arthroplasty Implants on Clinical Outcomes: A Multi-Institutional Analysis of 179 Patients.” His presentation was given during the Specialty Abstract Breakout 4 session.
Sun, who is in his second year of medical school, presented two abstracts during the meeting. He presented his research, “Assessing Outcomes of Open and Minimally-Invasive Degenerative Lumbar Spine Surgery for Patients with Parkinson’s Disease: A Propensity Matched Analysis,” and, “Neighborhood Level Deprivation Independently Predicts Outcomes Following Lumbar Spine Surgery: A Propensity Score-Matched Analysis,” during the Specialty Abstract Breakout 5 session.
