The University of Alabama at Birmingham Department of Neurosurgery James Garber Galbraith Endowed Chair of Neurosurgery James Markert, M.D., MPH, and Professor Kristen Riley, M.D., are among the authors of a recent multi-institutional study published in Neurosurgery.
In this study, titled "Understanding the Effect of Prescription Isodose in Single-Fraction Stereotactic Radiosurgery on Plan Quality and Clinical Outcomes for Solid Brain Metastases," the authors performed a retrospective chart review to better understand the relationship between prescription isodose line, local tumor control and central nervous system (CNS) toxicity in the treatment of metastasis of primary tumors to the brain.
After analyzing 530 tumors in 116 patients, the study concluded that the prescription isodose line did not impact local tumor control or CNS toxicity
