Associate Professor, Brandon Rocque, M.D., is the recipient of the Chesapeake Civitan McNulty Scientist Award for 2021.

The Chesapeake Civitan McNulty Scientist Award is given each year in honor of Tommy McNulty and his family, who pioneered research efforts for developmental disabilities. Tom and Mary McNulty and their son Tommy were the driving force behind the creation of the Civitan International Research Center (CIRC), housed in the UAB School of Medicine and the research focus of Civitan International Foundation. Each year CIRC awards the recipient $50,000 to continue ground-breaking research in neurodevelopment disorders, last year’s recipient was Matthew Alexander, Ph.D.

Rocque's research focus is on improving the experience of care for children with neurosurgical conditions.

"I am extremely honored to receive this year's McNulty Award from Civitan International. Civitan has a remarkable legacy of support for UAB and for children with neurodevelopment disorders. I hope to follow in the footsteps of previous McNulty scientists and make a meaningful contribution to improving quality of life for children with neurological disorders." said Rocque.
