UAB Department of Neurosurgery Professor and Division of Pediatric Neurosurgery Director Jeffrey Blount, M.D., M.P.H., and Professor and Neurosurgery Residency Program Director Curtis Rozzelle, M.D., are among the authors of a recent paper published in Epilepsia titled “Quantifying and reporting outcome measures in pediatric epilepsy surgery: A systematic review.”
Through this systematic review, the authors were able to summarize, evaluate and quantify outcome metrics reported in pediatric patients undergoing epilepsy surgery.
The authors explain that in pediatric epilepsy surgery, there is high variability in outcomes reporting, the use of validated and reliable outcomes metrics are sparse and more standardized outcomes metrics are needed.
Additional authors in this study include UAB Department of Neurosurgery PGY-5 Resident Dagoberto Estevez, M.D., and PGY-2 Resident Andrew Hale, M.D., Ph.D.
