John S. Haller Jr., Ph.D., professor emeritus at Southern Illinois University, is speaking at the Reynolds-Finley Historical Lecture on Thursday, Sept. 10 from noon to 1 p.m. at the Edge of Chaos.
Haller will present “The Placebo Effect: What Is It and How Does It Affect Conventional and Unconventional Therapies.” A book signing of his “Shadow Medicine: the Placebo Effect in Conventional and Alternative Therapies” will follow the lecture.
The lecture is free and open to the public. Boxed lunches will be available on a first come, first served basis.
Parking is available in the UAB 9th Avenue Parking Deck (1602 9th Avenue South), located directly behind the Ryals School of Public Health. Attendees should only use the 9th Avenue entrance. One hour of AMA PRA Category 1 CME credit is available.
