Registration is open for the 2016 Research and Innovation in Medical Education (RIME) Week Education Summit, a day of speakers and workshops to enhance teaching for faculty in the UAB School of Medicine.
The faculty summit is planned for Friday, Sept. 23 in the West Pavilion Conference Center, beginning at 8 a.m. Workshops will be held throughout the morning, followed by plenary speaker Scott Phillips, Ph.D., director of UAB’s Center for Teaching and Learning, who will speak at 12:30 p.m. Afternoon workshops will follow.
The summit is just one of the events for RIME Week, a three-day event that promotes teaching skills, fosters curriculum innovation and showcases scholarship and research findings in medical education. Now in its 6th year, RIME Week 2016 is set for Sept. 21-23.
RIME Week kicks off Wednesday, Sept. 21 with Grand Rounds, featuring guest speaker Louis N. Pangaro, M.D., MACP, professor of and chair of the Department of Medicine at Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, Md., at noon in the Margaret Cameron Spain Auditorium.” All faculty, fellows, residents and students are invited to attend the lecture. Pangaro will also present “Evaluation in the Age of Assessment” at Pediatric Medical Grand Rounds on Thursday, Sept. 22 at noon in the Bradley Lecture Center, located on the fourth floor of the Children’s Center for Research and Innovation.
A poster session showcasing research from faculty, fellows, residents and students, will follow from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. in the West Pavilion Atrium. A second poster session is planned for Thursday, Sept. 22 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. in the West Pavilion Atrium.
Workshops for fellows will be held from 8 a.m. to noon, Thursday, Sept. 17 in West Pavilion Conference Center Room D.
