James J. Cimino, M.D., director of the UAB Informatics Institute and Endowed Professor in Informatics, has been elected to the board of directors of the American Medical Informatics Association (AMIA).
Cimino will begin a three-year term on the board on January 1, 2018. A national leader in the burgeoning field of biomedical informatics, Cimino joined UAB to lead the Informatics Institute in 2015. He’s also co-director of the UAB Center for Clinical and Translational Science.
Established in 1988 and with more than 5,400 members, the AMIA continues to gain influence as the authoritative voice in the growing field of informatics through the individual and collective efforts of its members, who continue to drive thought leadership, and research and practice in their respective disciplines.
