Educational Research & Innovations in Clinical & Health Sciences (ENRICH) Week, an annual conference for health educators that promotes teaching skills, fosters curriculum innovation, and showcases scholarship and research findings in health education, will have its 2022 slate of events Sept. 20-22.
ENRICH Week kicks off on Tuesday, Sept. 20 with a poster session showcasing research and educational innovations from faculty, fellows, residents and students. The session is from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. in the West Pavilion Atrium.
Bob Lujano, M.S., author and world-class paralympic athlete, will present "How interprofessional educators can play a significant role in building inclusive healthy communities" on Wednesday, Sept. 21 from noon to 1 p.m. via Zoom. Lujano is an information specialist for the National Center on Health, Physical Activity and Disability (NCHPAD) UAB/Lakeshore Foundation Research Collaborative.

The Emerging Educators Workshop will be held from 8 to noon Thursday, Sept. 22 in Volker Hall 302. The workshop is designed for those early in their teaching careers who want to hone their skills in teaching in healthcare education.
Featured facilitators include: Lauren Nassetta, M.D., associate professor of Pediatrics and director of Wellness Support Services in the Heersink School of Medicine, presenting “Five to Thrive while You Drive: Keys to Joy and Resilience for Medical Educators;” Melissa Hawkins, MA-TESOL, Ed.S., international teaching and learning specialist, presenting “Engaging in Teaching that Reaches All Students;" and Catherine Buttrey, J.D., faculty advisor and ADA investigator with UAB Disability Support Services, presenting “Accessible Course Design & Instruction.”

ENRICH Week was organized this year by event chair Greg Pavela, Ph.D., associate professor in the School of Public Health, and Rebekah Weil, M.D., assistant professor in the Department of Medicine.
