The School of Medicine Office for Diversity and Inclusion will present Theater Delta on Tuesday, April 3, from 3-5 p.m. at the Edge of Chaos. Delta Theater uses improvisation and audience participation to illustrate how unconscious bias can creep into our daily lives and decision-making.
The School of Medicine Office for Diversity and Inclusion celebrated its second annual Diversity Fair with food, drinks and entertainment. The 2018 Diversity Fair welcomed approximately 700 guests from across UAB Medicine.
The Diversity Day events on Feb. 3 will begin with Diversity Grand Rounds, featuring John Ruffin, Ph.D., the founding director of the National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities, at noon in the Margaret Cameron Spain Auditorium.
The fair will feature performances by local musicians, the work of local artists, performances of slam poetry and booths by departments within the School of Medicine.
The UAB chapter of the American Medical Women’s Association concluded a year filled with seminars, workshops and lectures with a networking event on November 29.
Lauren Nassetta, M.D., assistant professor of Pediatrics, addressed the prevalence of burnout and its impact on women in the medical field at the July 27 meeting of the American Medical Women’s Association.
The School of Medicine will recognize the day with a Women in Medicine Lecture and Luncheon, featuring Deborah Deas, M.D., MPH, interim dean of the Medical University of South Carolina.
