Group prenatal care for women with gestational diabetes was started at the Obstetrics Complications Clinic in 2017. Founded on the principles of assessment, education and support, group prenatal care brings together women of similar gestational ages for all of their prenatal care in a share space. In this clinic, women meet twice monthly for routine prenatal care and diabetes management. Should additional care be required in the intervening weeks, patients are seen in the routine clinic.
Our team includes a general Ob/Gyn physician, nurse practitioner, registered nurse and diabetic educator. Patients have private assessments with both the provider and diabetes educator, then gather together for a facilitated discussion on pregnancy and diabetes topics.
