A three-year fellowship program in Maternal-Fetal Medicine is structured to provide each fellow with a broad-based experience in all of the clinical and research aspects of maternal-fetal medicine.
The structure of the fellowship is as follows:
- Outpatient: 6 months
This rotation is designed to provide the fellow with experience in managing high-risk medical complications in the prenatal care setting - Inpatient Labor and Delivery: 2 months
- Inpatient Antepartum: 4 months
This rotation is designed to provide the fellow with experience in inpatient high-risk antepartum and complex postpartum care as well as critical care in pregnancy. - Surgical Intensive Care Unit: 1 month
- Ultrasound: 6 months
This rotation is designed to provide the fellow with a broad range of experience in fetal ultrasound, including genetic screening, 1st trimester ultrasound, fetal echocardiography and diagnostic procedures - Genetics: 2 months
These two rotations are designed to provide the fellow 1) a general understanding of the principle of genetics across a variety of specialties and 2) a focused rotation in prenatal genetic counseling - Electives: 4 months
- Research: 12 months
