Do-Yeon Cho, M.D., associate professor in the Department of Otolaryngology, won the American Rhinologic Society (ARS) Basic Science Rhinology Research Award Runner Up for his oral abstract presentation, “A novel oxygen-generating biomaterial for CRS therapy,” at the ARS at Combined Otolaryngology Spring Meetings (COSM) 2021 virtual conference.
The study is about Cho and co-authors’ recent development, an oxygen generating biomaterial, as a novel treatment strategy for damaged sinus tissue from hypoxia. Hypoxia appears to be one of the major pathogenic mechanisms leading to chronic inflammation in sinusitis.
The ARS congratulated Cho on his research contributions to rhinology and the society.
“I would like to thank the American Rhinologic Society. It is an honor to receive this award,” said Cho.
The study is pending publication.
