The prevalence of somatic symptom disorders in primary care pediatric settings has been estimated to be between 25–50% of visits, and functional neurological symptom disorder is the second most common diagnosis in neurology clinics. As the interaction of physical health and psychological, social and environmental wellbeing is emerging in research and healthcare, it is important to further assess the etiology of these factors for diseases and evaluate the effectiveness of psychological and behavioral treatments on physical health. Dr. Aaron Fobian is conducting a wide range of research on the etiology and treatment of pediatric disorders, including sleep, obesity, somatic symptom disorders and functional neurological symptom disorders.
