The UAB Division of Pulmonary, Allergy, and Critical Care Medicine is passionate about mentoring and training the next generation of physicians and scientists.
Our pulmonologists and faculty provide comprehensive training programs for medical students, residents, and fellows, offering specialization in Advanced Lung Disease, Interventional Pulmonary, Lung Transplantation, ECMO, and multidisciplinary Critical Care Medicine. Fellows gain exposure to all aspects of pulmonary medicine through our high-volume clinical practice and programs in environmental medicine, COPD, interstitial lung disease, cystic fibrosis, mycobacterial infections, and lung cancer. We provide hands-on, high-volume critical care training across medical and non-medical ICU settings.
We have the necessary resources and mentoring to have trainees pursue academic and research interests across all aspects of pulmonary and critical care medicine. Our NIH-sponsored T-32 Training Program in Lung Biology and Translational Medicine supports 2 to 3 years of postdoctoral fellowship training, assisting fellows in achieving personal professional goals while acquiring the skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed to excel as pulmonary and critical care physicians.
