-Sylvia works behind the scenes person to put all the resident scheduling information into MedHub and QGenda prior to the academic year
-She orders and organizes all the materials for the recruitment gift boxes during interview season
-She keeps track of resident attendance on rotations and is responsible for notifications of vacation or sick days to attending’s
-She gets all certificates correctly printed and signed for our residents, trainees, and award winners at the Radiology READY
-Sylvia mines the minutia, so everyone else doesn’t have to wallow in it
   

COMMUNITY SERVICE AWARD

-Drs. Bass and Smith put a lot of thought and effort into wellness activities for the department, and these are noticed and appreciated
-Their efforts to improve wellness are regularly felt by many of us, and I (we) greatly appreciate their work
-They also supported the Women in Radiology group and helped raise funds for the Lovelady child center, which supports housing and childcare for women transitioning after incarceration

-Led FDA clearance of AI algorithms for lung nodule detection on CT
-Awarded an industry grant for validation of AI for quantifying interstitial fibrosis on HRCT

-Continuously expanding the education in breast research, including current initiatives to include virtual reality approaches and pushing the boundaries to improve resident and radiology research to allow for expanded exposure into breast imaging and procedures during medical education
-Initiating new Radiology- centered outcomes research (co-mentoring a T32 postdoctoral fellow from the UAB Center for Outcomes and Effectiveness Research and Education). COERE cultivates a community of interdisciplinary health services, outcomes and effectiveness investigators

-Developed and implemented an inpatient consultation service for Interventional Radiology
   This initiative brought the practice into a truly consultative model for minimally-invasive procedures.
    It was a huge lift where the time and effort spent in meeting with stakeholders throughout the hospital
   This has improved educational opportunities for our trainees
   This has improved patient care and increased departmental revenue

-Tina did a lot of hard work this year getting the PET/MRI department running after both of the previous techs departed without leaving any notes on any procedures, protocols, or even how to run the scanner
-Tina has been a huge help with the PET/MRI changes
-She is always willing to answer questions and learn new procedures that make her a valuable team player. We are blessed to have such a hard worker

Interventional Radiology

-His work on 'Deep Venous Thrombosis and Insufficiency' was featured in a New York times article and in the UAB Dean’s annual school address this year
-He collaborated and partnered with vascular surgery and wound care clinics in this endeavor
-His interest and dedication has allowed multiple patients with chronic DVT and/or IVC thrombosis to seek an alternative to hope and a better lifestyle
