Alexander Denton, M.D., completed his undergraduate coursework at Vanderbilt University and then medical school at University of Alabama Heersink School of Medicine. He subsequently completed residency training at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis and was a Co-Chief Resident his final two years. This was followed by fellowship training in Musculoskeletal Radiology back at the University of Alabama at Birmingham before he joined the clinical faculty in the Emergency Radiology section. Jorge A. Vidal, M.D., FACR, received his undergraduate degree from Emory University followed by medical school at the University of Puerto. He completed his residency at the University of Missouri in Kansas City, MO. followed by a fellowship with the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology, Washington, DC. Dr. Vidal served as ACR Puerto Rico Chapter President through 2019 and as Vice President Caribbean-Iberian Section CIR (Interamerican College of Radiology) through 2018. Jason A. Pietryga, M.D., completed his undergraduate education at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, followed by medical school at Washington University in Saint Louis. After completing his radiology residency training at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University, he completed an abdominal imaging fellowship at the Duke University Medical Center. Following a year working as a general radiologist in the Toledo, OH area, Dr. Pietryga joined the faculty at the University of Alabama at Birmingham as an Assistant Professor in the abdominal imaging section. After two and half years at UAB, Dr. Pietryga returned to Rhode Island and joined Rhode Island Medical Imaging (RIMI) and the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University as an Assistant Professor in the body imaging section. In January of 2019, Dr. Pietryga returned to UAB as a Clinical Assistant Professor in the emergency radiology section. Clinically, Dr. Pietryga practices a wide spectrum of imaging ranging from general emergency imaging to specialized abdominal/pelvic imaging and intervention. His research interests include bariatric imaging, liver MRI, prostate MRI and image-guided intervention. At the national level, Dr. Pietryga is actively involved in several societies and is currently a member of the RSNA Scientific Program Committee (SPC) Gastrointestinal Radiology Subcommittee, AMC- Scientific Program & Educational Exhibits Committee of the Society of Abdominal Radiology (SAR) and the ACR Appropriateness Criteria (AC) Expert Panel on Gastrointestinal Imaging 2. He also participates as a manuscript reviewer for Radiology, Abdominal Radiology, European Radiology and Clinical Imaging and has twice received the Editor’s Recognition Award for Radiology (2017 & 2018). |
