The purpose of the UAB RDSMB is to provide a clinical study monitoring mechanism for diagnostic imaging-focused protocols (non-cancer related) conducted under the auspices of FDA Investigational New Drug Applications (INDs), grant proposal applications, and other studies requiring such monitoring. This is a requirement under ICH/GCP guidelines. The DSMB will be coordinated by the Committee Chair, and will be independent of trial sponsors, regulatory agencies, Institutional review boards and investigators involved with the trials under review.
