UAB American Physician Scientist Association Chapter
The American Physician Scientists Association (APSA) was developed for and is administrated by aspiring physician-scientists from around the country. The mission of National APSA as well as the UAB Chapter is to support the training of successful physician-scientists by providing opportunities for professional development, career planning, and networking within the scientific and medical communities. The overarching goal of the UAB APSA Chapter is to ensure that the unique training needs of aspiring physician-scientists are met and that they have a strong voice within the UAB biomedical community.

Universal Funding Opportunities
RSNA Education Scholar Grant
- Provides funding opportunities for individuals with an active interest in radiologic education. • Up to $75,000 USD for salary support and/or other project costs for a 1-year grant. In exceptional cases, grants for up to two years will be considered.

RSNA/AUR/APDR/SCARD Radiology Education Research Development Grant
- Encourages innovation and improvement in health sciences education by providing research opportunities to individuals in pursuit of advancing the science of radiology education.
- Up to $10,000 USD for a 1-year project.
- Open to international applicants
- Application Deadline: Mid-January
ARRS Leonard Berlin Scholarship in Medical Professionalism
- Unlikely to give an award to more than one candidate per department per year
- Scholars may choose either a one-year program requiring a minimum 50 percent time commitment to be funded at $100,000, or a two-year program requiring a minimum 25 percent time commitment to be funded at $50,000 each year.

AUR Research and Education Foundation Venture Fund for Affinity Groups
- To support and invest in the missions of the respective AUR Affinity Groups, and to promote collaborative projects among Affinity Groups. Innovative projects are to be proposed by individuals through the AUR Affinity Groups, with the aim of addressing stated needs of one or more of those groups.
- Each Affinity Group can submit up to 1 independent proposal per year as the sole recipient, with a maximum request of $5,000. However, there is no limit to the number of joint proposals that can be submitted in collaboration with other Affinity Groups. For a joint proposal, the maximum request is $10,000. Each proposed project will be funded for 10 months, but submissions for proposed funding continuation of an existing project are allowed.

AUR Strategic Alignment Grant
- To advance the long-range strategic organizational goals of the AUR by awarding one year length grant(s) to applicants who address identified strategic priorities
- One or more grants, up to $35,000 (USD) in aggregate will be awarded.
- The maximum individual award may not exceed $35,000 for a one year project. • Applications by Residents and Fellows are encouraged but must list a co-principal investigator (mentor) who is a full AUR member.
- Applicants (the primary investigator) may only submit one grant application to the AUR Research and Education Foundation per year.
- Applicants must hold a M.D. degree (or equivalent), be board eligible or certified in radiology, and have received sufficient research training at pre- and/or postdoctoral levels to be capable of independent research.
- Application Deadline: Mid-January

UAB Medicine Multi-Investigator Planning Grant RFA
- The UAB Heersink School of Medicine invites exploratory/developmental grant applications for the establishment of an infrastructure for eventual applications for multi-investigator research programs, such as Program Project grants (P01), SPORE grants, Center grants (P30, P50 or P60), U-series grants or Multi-PI R01 grants from NIH or other funding agencies. The Multi-PI R01 grants should have inter-related projects, at least 3 PIs, and should be requesting more than the standard modular budget allows. Please note: standard R01 type applications will not be considered responsive to this RFA.

UAB Medicine Impact Awards
- The IMPACT awards are intended to augment recruitment and retention packages for outstanding, highly-funded faculty ranked at the Assistant Professor level or higher. These state monies are intended to foster economic growth as assessed by increased extramural support to UAB and by an increase in research employees who are supported, in part or whole, by extramural resources • Application Deadline: Continuous
