Core Facilities
Services at these facilities are delivered by experts on a fee-for-service basis to enable, facilitate or enhance the research mission of UAB. These facilities are professionally managed operations with a sustainable business plan and follow standards for best practices in facility management and operations.
Radiology Research Administration
The radiology research administration team provides support in imaging study research development, pre- and post-award management in conjunction with the UAB OSP, budget support, image transfer, and UAB compliance. The office coordinates submissions of all grants and contracts, provides staffing and coordination for most of the clinical research projects in the department and ensures all regulatory adherence.
Research administrative personnel are instrumental in the operation of the Human Imaging Shared Facility, and interact with the other imaging cores and laboratories in the department. A clinical statistician also contributes research support to imaging and related studies.

Clinical Research
The clinical research activities in UAB Radiology include multi-institutional imaging trials and UAB investigator-initiated studies, as well as governmental agency (NIH)-supported and industry-sponsored studies. In addition to the UAB Department of Radiology Human Imaging Shared Facility funded in part by the UAB Comprehensive Cancer Center the department's research enterprise supports collaborative imaging science research efforts through the Multidisciplinary Neuroimaging Resource Core (Georg Deutsch, PhD, PI), the Comprehensive Core for Quantitative Imaging Biomarker Analysis and Development (Desiree E. Morgan, MD, PI) and an Ultrasound Imaging Core (Michelle L. Robbin, MD, PI). The 3D Laboratory for Multimodality Imaging (Satinder Singh, MD, FCCP, Director) and Brain Lab at The Kirklin Clinic (Glenn H. Roberson, MD, Director) round out the portfolio of image analyses labs for clinical research in the Department of Radiology at UAB.
