The Division of Surgical Oncology’s Renata Jaskula-Sztul, Ph.D., has received grant funding from the UAB Center for Clinical and Translational Science, in collaboration with the UAB School of Medicine and the UAB Department of Radiology, and the North American Neuroendocrine Tumor Society to support two of her research projects.
Funding for Jaskula-Sztul’s project, “Imaging of alterations in SSTR2 expression with HDAC inhibitors treatment for pulmonary carcinoids,” is being awarded to her through the CCTS/Radiology Pilot Initiative. Her estimated budget of $15,000 was awarded to her without change. The CCTS/Radiology Pilot Research Initiative provides direct research support for full-time faculty and early investigators to help with expenses for pre-clinical and clinical research scan time and/or for the purchase of radionuclides and radiopharmaceuticals from the Cyclotron facility.
Jaskula-Sztul has also received the NANETS Basic Translational Science Investigator Award to fund her project, “Novel Antibody-Drug Conjugate (ADC) for pancreatic Neuroendocrine Tumor (PanNET) Targeted Therapy.” Through this award, the Neuroendocrine Tumor Research Foundation is providing her with $100,000 in funding over two years at $50,000 each year. The award will be shared between Jaskula-Sztul and the UAB Department of Biomedical Engineering’s Xiaoguang (Margaret) Liu, Ph.D.
