General surgery research resident Margaux Mustian, M.D., was recently named a recipient of the Dale Benos Scholar Award by the UAB Nephrology Research Training Center.

In honor of Benos’ commitment to postdoctoral training in kidney disease research, this award provides support for outstanding second-year trainees who are a part of the “Interdisciplinary Training in Kidney-Related Research” training grant. Mustian will receive $2,500 toward her postdoctoral stipend and $2,500 toward her travel and career development expenses, in order to assist in maintaining her research.

“I am very honored to receive the Dr. Dale Benos Scholar award, and I think it reflects the great mentorship that I have been fortunate to have throughout my research fellowship,” Mustian said.
