Raoud Marayati, M.D., general surgery research resident and Beierle Lab member, received the Best Abstract Award in Basic and Translational Research at last month’s UAB Pediatric Science Day at Children’s of Alabama.
Marayati presented her award-winning project, “PIM Kinases Mediate Cisplatin Resistance in Hepatoblastoma,” at one of the event’s oral presentation sessions at the Bradley Lecture Hall on March 21.
“It was a great opportunity to represent UAB Pediatric Surgery and the Beierle Lab and to share our work with researchers in the Department of Pediatrics,” Marayati said.
Pediatric Science Day is an annual event that seeks to illustrate the breadth of UAB’s pediatric research and support collaborations between young investigators.
Marayati was also recently awarded a $400 travel grant from the UAB Graduate Student Government to attend the 2019 American Pediatric Surgery Association annual meeting this summer, where she will present this project again. Read more about Marayati's GSG grant here.
