Professor of Cardiothoracic Surgery and Director of the Kirklin Institute for Research in Surgical Outcomes James K. Kirklin, M.D., was recently named the recipient of the 2020 International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation Lifetime Achievement Award.

This award is given annually to an individual whose lifetime body of work has made a significant contribution toward improving the care of patients with advanced heart or lung disease, engaged in pioneering work that has improved the care of patients with advanced heart or lung disease, or is representative of outstanding dedication and service to the ISHLT.

Kirklin will be recognized for this honor next April at the ISHLT’s 40th Annual Meeting and Scientific Sessions in Montréal, Canada.
