General surgery resident Raoud Marayati, M.D., a researcher in the lab of the Division of Pediatric Surgery’s Elizabeth Beierle, M.D., received the award for best resident research presentation at last month’s annual meeting of the Alabama and Mississippi Chapters of the American College of Surgeons.
Marayati’s winning presentation, “PIM3 Kinase Promotes Mestastasis in Hepatoblastoma,” featured results from her research project for which she won the Society of University Surgeons Resident Research Scholar Award last year.
A number of UAB Department of Surgery also presented their own research at the regional ACS conference in July, including Daniel Chu, M.D., FACS; Brenessa Lindeman, M.D., MEHP; Graeme McFarland, M.D.; Catherine Parker, M.D., FACS, FACS; Abhishek Parmar, M.D., M.S.; and Sushanth Reddy, M.D., FACS.
