UAB general surgery resident Brett Melnikoff, M.D., recently received a 2019 Society of Thoracic Surgeons Looking to the Future Resident Scholarship.

This scholarship grants recipients admission to the STS 55th Annual Meeting, as well as provides hotel accommodations and reimbursement of up to $500 in travel expenses, including air and ground transportation. Through this scholarship, STS seeks to provide mentorship to recipients and to encourage them to pursue careers in cardiothoracic surgery.

The STS 2019 Annual Meeting will be held January 27-29, 2019, in San Diego, California. This is an educational event for cardiothoracic surgery that features lectures from renowned faculty and guests, networking opportunities, hands-on sessions and a chance to view the latest products and services in the specialty.
