Two UAB Department of Surgery faculty and three trainees were recently elected to four Association for Academic Surgery committees.

The Division of Surgical Oncology’s Brenessa Lindeman, M.D., MEHP, and Carlo Contreras, M.D., will serve on the AAS Leadership Committee and Global Affairs Committee, respectively, while general surgery research residents Margaux Mustian, M.D., and Samantha Baker, M.D., as well as endocrine surgery fellow Sophie Dream, M.D., will serve as candidate representatives on the Global Affairs Committee, Membership Committee and Technology and Communication Committee, respectively.

The term of each of their appointments to these committees will begin in February 2019 and end in February 2021. Lindeman, Contreras, Mustian, Baker and Dream will also attend the 14th Annual Academic Surgical Congress Annual Academic Surgical Congress in Houston, Texas, Feb. 5-7.
