Four Department of Surgery residents were recently elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society at UAB.

General surgery residents Laura Hickman, M.D., and Laura Stafman, M.D., Ph.D., as well as vascular surgery resident William Jackson, D.O., and plastic surgery resident Ashley Thorburn, M.D., will be inducted into AOA at the society’s official induction ceremony on March 14.

About 3,000 students, alumni, house staff and faculty are selected to join AOA each year. Since its founding in 1902, more than 150,000 members have been elected to the society.
