The Division of Pediatric Surgery’s Colin Martin, M.D., was recently selected to receive the 2019 Academic Surgical Congress 10x10 Career Development Traveling Fellowship. This award will provide Martin with a $2,000 stipend to visit a scholar or clinician at the institution of his choosing for one week.

Martin will be recognized as the recipient of the fellowship at next month’s Academic Surgical Congress in Houston, Texas, at the event’s awards ceremony on Feb. 7. Martin said he plans to use his award to visit the University of Michigan.

This travelling fellowship seeks to provide an active member of the Association for Academic Surgery and the Society of University Surgeons with the opportunity to observe procedures, participate in research activities and attend conferences at another institution in order to further the recipient’s academic development and to promote interaction and learning among surgeons in different academic practices in the United States. The fellowship, created in 2015 in celebration of the 10th anniversary of the Academic Surgical Congress, is supported by the members of AAS and SUS and the attendees of the ASC.
