Assistant Professor in the Division of Surgical Oncology Brenessa Lindeman, M.D., MEHP, was recently selected to participate in the University of Michigan Department of Surgery’s 2020 Junior Faculty Exchange Program.

As the program’s UAB representative, Lindeman will travel to Ann Arbor to visit the University of Michigan, where she will meet and present a lecture for the department’s students, residents and divisional members. In turn, the UAB Department of Surgery will also host a visiting junior faculty member from the University of Michigan in 2020.

Since its first implementation in 2017, the University of Michigan Junior Faculty Exchange Program has organized the reciprocal exchange of assistant professor-level faculty from nine participating institutions throughout the United States, including Brigham and Women's Hospital, Dartmouth College, Duke University, the University of Florida, Massachusetts General Hospital, Ohio State University, the University of Pittsburgh, Stanford University and Vanderbilt University.

As part of the Michigan Promise – a comprehensive professional initiative within the University of Michigan Department of Surgery that includes the Promise Coalition, a multi-institutional professional development partnership to which UAB also belongs – the Junior Faculty Exchange Program seeks to encourage collaboration and increase exposure for junior faculty across the country’s major teaching institutions.
