On April 22, Jessica Towns will join the UAB School of Medicine Development Office as the executive director of development for the Department of Surgery, as well as the departments of Orthopaedic Surgery and Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine.

In her new role, Towns will manage a portfolio of principal and major gift prospects, as well as direct strategic fundraising and alumni engagement initiatives for the Department of Surgery.

Towns comes to UAB from Weill Cornell Medicine where she led development programs for the departments of Otolaryngology, Ophthalmology, Urology and Medicine. Her past experience also includes development roles at Johns Hopkins Medicine where she staffed the departments of Surgery and Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery between 2010-2016. Additionally, she served as a principal gift officer at Cedars-Sinai in Los Angeles.
